Tactics of anticoagulant therapy in patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices and subclinical atrial fibrillation: A review

چکیده
Screening for atrial fibrillation (AF) has attracted considerable attention recently. Of special interest are patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) that allow recording episodes of arrhythmias various durations, including asymptomatic ones, in which case they referred to as subclinical (SCAF). The available data suggest the risk thromboembolic events varies between SCAF and clinically overt AF. As today, question regarding anticoagulant therapy remains unresolved. article presents an overview previous ongoing studies on this issue, well current guidelines use CIEDs.

Predictors and long-term clinical outcomes of newly developed atrial fibrillation in patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices
OBJECTIVE To evaluate predictors and long-term prognosis of atrial fibrillation (AF) following cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) implantation in patients without history of AF. METHODS From May 1994 to April 2014, 1825 patients with CIED were enrolled in a retrospective, single-center registry. A total of 880 patients from the registry without prior documented AF history were inclu...
متن کاملEffect of Oral Anticoagulant Therapy on Coagulation Activity and Inflammatory Markers in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation Undergoing Ablation: A Randomized Comparison between Dabigatran and Warfarin
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with inflammatory and hypercoagulability state. Previous studies evaluated the safety and efficacy of dabigatran and warfarin in prevention of thrombothic complications. This study was intended to assess the influence of these drugs on hemostatic and inflammatory markers among patient underwent pulmonary vein ablation. A total of 100 patients with AF w...

متن کاملOral anticoagulation management in patients with atrial fibrillation undergoing cardiac implantable electronic device implantation
BACKGROUND Oral anticoagulation (OAC) therapy is associated with increased periprocedural risks after cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) implantation. Patterns of anticoagulation management involving non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) have not been characterized. HYPOTHESIS Anticoagulation strategies and outcomes differ by anticoagulant type in patients undergoing ...
متن کاملSudden Death in Patients With Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices.
IMPORTANCE Interrogations and autopsies of sudden deaths with cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) are rarely performed. Therefore, causes of sudden deaths with these devices and the incidence of device failure are unknown. OBJECTIVE To determine causes of death in individuals with CIEDs in a prospective autopsy study of all sudden deaths over 35 months as part of the San Francisco,...
